Former Governor Edwin Edwards is back at home after spending two nights in the hospital in Baton Rouge. He's now back at home with his wife Trina in Gonzales. He was admitted to the hospital on Friday after suffering from shortness of breath.

The 93-year-old tested negative for COVID-19 and pneumonia. He also did not have the flu. He was treated at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center after being transported there by ambulance. Doctors treated him for rhinovirus which is a viral infection that causes a common head cold.

His wife Trina Edwards sent out messages of thanks to everyone who sent her messages of prayer and concern.

Beyond grateful for Eli’s teachers who took him to the park so I could go and visit Edwin. 2020 ain’t woman enough to take my man!

Trina Edwards also expressed frustration early on posting this message on Facebook: "Someone at Our Lady of the Lake was quicker in violating my husband’s privacy ONCE AGAIN by letting the press know he was in the hospital before I could even let our family and close friends know."

She also posted this message about how the Louisiana legend "He's resting well and is already back to giving orders."

He spent Sunday afternoon watching the Saints beat the 49ers.
