Two unexpected changes in local races, one in Iberia Parish and the other in the race for the State Representative seat in District 44.

With 31 or 31 precincts reporting in District 44 challenger Vincent Pierre defeated incumbent State Representative Ricky Hardy.  Pierre garnered 3286 votes or 53% of the votes cast while Hardy received 2864 votes or 47% of the votes cast.

In Iberia Parish incumbent Parish President Ernest Freyou was unseated by challenger Errol "Romo" Romero.  Romero captured 8235 votes or 56% of the votes cast.  Freyou received 6540 votes or 44% of the votes cast.

The one cent sales tax proposed in Youngsville dedicated to build and maintain a youth sports complex passed by a 56% to 44% margin.  The vote was 811 yes, 653 no.

In Broussard a similar proposed tax passed by a margin of 57% to 43% or 615 yes votes, 467 no votes.

In Vermilion Parish District 2 Police Jury race Allen Lemaire received 669 votes or 63% of the votes cast.  "Chris Beraud received 385 votes or 37%.
