New Orleans Pelicans point guard and Louisiana Ragin' Cajun alum Elfrid Payton has joined a shortlist of NBA greats with his recent surge of triple-doubles.

After notching his 5th consecutive triple-double in a win over the Mavericks this week, Payton joined Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson as the only players to ever accomplish the feat, per Elias Sports Bureau.

Jordan, Chamberlain and Robertson are Hall of Famers and considered some of the best of all-time. Westbrook is a future Hall of Famer and former NBA MVP.

"To be a point guard and be able to come up with double-digit rebounds night after night after night, that is really tough to do," Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry said of Payton. "Any time they mention you in the same breath as Westbrook, you have to feel really good about it. If they mention you in the same breath as Oscar Robertson, that is another whole area."
