Environmental groups including the Louisiana Bucket Brigade are suing the Environmental Protection Agency in an attempt to get the EPA to reduce air emissions of carcinogenic chemicals that get dispersed from one hundred and fifty refineries in thirty-two states.

The basis of the suit charges that the Environmental Protection Agency's rules are based on emissions numbers from refineries that are not correct. They say out outdated technology is the reason.

Clean Air Act standards are to be evaluated every eight years, and members of these groups believe the EPA has not been affective enough is getting the numbers down where emissions are concerned.
