There are numerous things that are prohibited from being in a jail environment, and now a former prison cadet learned that the hard way.

Officials with the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center say that 29-year-old Adrian T. King has been arrested for trying to bring some pot into the jail meant for the people incarcerated there.

When there was a search for contraband at the facility, officials say they found .10 ounces of marijuana in King's car that they say was meant for the people in the jail.

Officials with the St. Gabriel Police Department booked King on one count of Introduction of Contraband into a Penal institution and Malfeasance in Office.

Because King has been a probationary employee since October of last year, the man has been fired.

Officials say they will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
