Congratulations are in order for a former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun head football coach.

Austin Peay head coach Mark Hudspeth led his team to a 42-6 win over Furman on Saturday, in the first round of the 2019 FCS Playoffs.

For the Governors, it was their first-ever FCS playoff win, and their 10th victory of the season, the most in school history.

Hudspeth helped guide the Governors to a 9-3 record in his first season at the school during the regular season, capturing an Ohio Valley Conference title in the process, the first for the program since 1977.

Austin Peay will take on Sacramento St. in the second round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday.

Hudspeth was hired as the 26th coach in UL program history in December of 2010 and guided the Cajuns through the 2017 campaign.

The 50-year old Hudspeth, who was the head coach at North Alabama from 2002-2008, spent last season as an assistant at Mississippi St.

Hudspeth was named head coach at Austin Peay last December.

Congrats to Coach Hud, and the best of luck to the Governors!
