Geek’d Con Returns To Shreveport For 2021
Geek'd Con, Shreveport's comic con, unfortunately had to miss the 2020 show due to the COVID pandemic restrictions around the state. But the show is back on for 2021! The show's return will be August 13th-15th at the Shreveport Convention Center.
Before the pandemic, Geek'd Con had become one of the biggest pop culture events in the region. With guests like Michael Rooker, LeVar Burton, Elvira, Peter Mayhew, Chris Sarandon, and more.
Geek'd Con announced in a vendor email that the show recently gained approval from officials in regards to COVID regulations. The show will continue to work with officials as we get closer to August to ensure all COVID policies that are in place at that time will be followed. As of right now, that means masks and social distancing are mandatory. Because of current COVID restrictions, the show announced a rebuild to the vendor layout, and changes to programming (based on restrictions, there are no plans for panels at this time).
When it comes to the layout, the biggest changes will involve vendors. Now vendor booths are going to be in "pod" formations in an effort to maximize social distancing. These "pods" will be built with four 10x10 (or 8x8 for Creator Booths) booths together, separated by 8-foot-tall pipe & drape on all inside dividers. This will also go along with expanded aisles, which will be expanded to a 12-15 foot space to allow maximum social distancing for guests while they shop.
The guest lineup is already coming together nicely as well. Including start from Harry Potter, AMC's Comic Book Men, and Jay from the "Jay and Silent Bob" movies, Jason Mewes.
Vendor booths for this year's event are currently on sale, and you can find more info at ShreveportGeeks.com.
