Gerry Glasco Named NFP USSSA Pride Manager
It has been an emotional year for Ragin' Cajuns head softball coach Gerry Glasco and a very successful one on the softball field with Louisiana. He led them to a 52-6 record and within a handful of outs from defeating Ole Miss and moving onto the NCAA Super Regionals.
This summer Glasco will continue to fill his time with softball, only at the professional level as the Manager of the USSSA Florida Pride of the National Fast Pitch League. The season will run from June 6-Aug. 19 and he'll be managing one of his now-former players as well in Keeli Milligan. Milligan was a 5th round selection for the league's draft at 25th overall.
"I'm honored to return as a head coach in the NPF with a franchise that has a tremendously high reputation, unparalleled tradition of success and nurtures a great learning environment and experience for all involved," said Glasco. "This is an outstanding opportunity to not only grow our game but for me personally to achieve professional development as a head coach and help me prepare for the level of success we desire for Louisiana Softball in the 2020 season."
This will be the first time a head coach of Louisiana will be managing in the NFP.
However, this isn't Glasco's first go around in the league as he managed the USSSA Florida Pride to a championship in 2014 and the Houston Scrap Yard Dawgs in 2017.
Here are the collegiate coaches who have managed the Pride in the past: Tim Walton (Florida: 2010-2011), Beth Torina (Louisiana State: 2012), JT D'Amico (Washington: 2013), Mike Davenport (North Georgia: 2015) and Lonni Alameda (Florida State: 2016-17).
