It's not surprising that in a state like Texas, you'll find all kinds of vehicles on the road. Sure the Texas stereotype from Amarillo to Port Arthur is a pickup truck. And in and around River Oaks in Houston, and Highland Park in Dallas you'll probably find an exotic luxury nameplate.

But if you just look on either side of your car while you're driving down a Texas highway chances are almost one out of every ten cars you see will be a Honda product.

Honda currently holds approximately 8.5% of the U.S. Automotive market share. That means in a very simplified example of that statistic that if you pass 100 cars on the roadway at least eight of them will be cars manufactured through the Honda Corporation.

The Honda brand, in addition to the Honda cars that so many of us are familiar with, is also the manufacturer of Acura cars. Both Honda and Acura have wonderful reputations among Texas drivers. That's why you see so many of them on the road. However, some of those cars might need to be parked for a few minutes while some repairs are made.

Honda Recalling Nearly 295,000 Vehicles

Engineers at Honda have been made aware of a troubling software issue in certain makes and models of their cars. The issues appear to be connected to computer software that oversees the vehicle's engine and other components. According to the recall notice, the software issue can cause the vehicle's engine to stall or lose power.

Neither of those options is a good option for a driver trying to be safe on the roads. The improper programming of the fuel injectors on the car could create an issue where the driver momentarily loses power or the vehicle stalls out completely. This would certainly increase the risk of crash or injury.

The specific vehicles involved in this recall include certain 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type S vehicles. The recall also includes 2023-2025 Honda Pilots and the 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S vehicles. If you own or drive one of those vehicles you may take it to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer where the onboard computer will be reprogrammed.

There is no fee or charge associated with this reprogramming based on the official recall notification statement from Honda. If you're not sure if you own one of the vehicles in question watch your mailbox the company is sending out recall notices to consumers. If you don't want to wait and want to get a headstart on correcting any issue you might have, simply dial 1-888-234-2138. That is the customer service number for Honda.
