Exclusive photos obtained by KPEL News show hundreds of cars lined up for hours ahead of a planned food distribution event at Cajun Field in Lafayette. That distribution starts at 10 am. Many in our area are feeling the pressure of putting food on the table as the area deals with the effect of COVID-19 on the economy. It comes during a gap in federal enhanced unemployment benefits after the $600 weekly expired at the end of July.

Today's distribution is a partnership between Second Harvest and United Way of Acadiana. Cars started lining up before the sun came up to pick up a box of donated food. If you want to donate to the effort, you can find out how to give on the Second Harvest website.
