(KTDY) - Another alligator was recently spotted on a beach in Galveston, Texas.

While hearing of or seeing an alligator on the beach is concerning, in recent years, we've reported on several alligators showing up in the water near popular beaches.

Many are finding their way onto beaches, and every time we see a gator on the beach, it's just another reminder that you have to be on the lookout for more than just sharks and jellyfish while at the beach.

Why Alligators Are Showing Up on Beaches

Alligators are primarily freshwater animals, but they can tolerate saltwater for short periods to rid themselves of parasites. This is sometimes referred to by wildlife officials as a "spa day" for the alligator.

Remember, alligators are most active at dusk and dawn, and if by some chance you ever encounter one on the beach, do not approach it and never harass an alligator.

So, let this video of the alligator on the beach in Galveston serve as a reminder that gators llike the beach too, and you never know when one may show up where you are, while out on the sand.

Now, let's look back on the time when another alligator showed up on the beach in Galveston. Perhaps these two are "friends."
