Most Commonly Stolen Dog Breeds in Louisiana

Dogs are often an extension of our family and at times they can go missing, which can be heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, when some dogs go missing it isn't because they've wandered off on their own, they are stolen. Yes, there's a market out there for expensive breeds of dogs, and some people will steal dogs to sell to those who want them.

After having a conversation with a friend recently I decided to look up which breed of dog in Louisiana are most stolen and a veterinarian clinic in New Orleans highlighted the breeds of dogs most stolen in our state.

Now, there are ways to protect your pet from being stolen and one way is to always keep your dog in a secure location and perhaps even have cameras on their location.

Another modern technique used by dog owners is microchipping. That's when a small chip is inserted under your pet's skin and in the event they go missing, you can track their location.

If your pet goes missing you should evaluate cameras if you have any where the pet was taken, and you should then contact law enforcement if someone removed the dog from your property.

You will also want to put our flyers out with an up-to-date photo of your dog around your neighborhood or community, The sooner you get a photo out of the dog that was taken the better the chances of you finding it

So, like with kids you need to protect your dogs. There are mean people out there looking to take what does not belong to them, and sadly there are people out there willing to pay good money for expensive dog breeds
