South Louisiana Inmate Dies After Assisting Sheriff's Department

An inmate in St. Landry Parish has died after assisting the Sheriff's Department with a training exercise.

KLFY TV-10 reports that the inmate was picking up traffic cones used for a driving exercise when a side-by-side that he was on flipped and pinned him under it.

The accident is currently being investigated and the name of the trustee who died has not been released by St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.

According to the report by KLFY, speed is believed to have been a factor in this accident that occurred at the St. Landry Parish airport.
