Chief of External Affairs Ben Broussard, who is also our friend, says he has had the pleasure of seeing the traveling immersive museum twice and that anyone who visits will find it inspirational.

Broussard says part of the museum's profundity is that it lets you walk in another person's shoes as they experience a crisis.

I know I've often tried to put myself in someone else's situation, but it can be difficult because we often can't understand every aspect of someone's crisis. This museum and immersive experience helps people do this.

Broussard shared with me,

(In immersing yourself in the museum, you)......

also experience the vantage point of what happens when we pull up close and walk along side them (someone in crisis). It leaves an impact on you, one that forces you to the see the world through eyes of compassion and understanding.

When you visit the museum, you move through interactive exhibits that share real stories from people Catholic Charities has helped. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

One exhibit features people sharing how they helped others in their community and the impact it has had on them and others.

Traveling Museum to Visit Lafayette Offers an Interactive Poverty Simulation

Everyone's life is different, and life can be so very difficult. Maybe when you were little, money was very tight, but now life is better; maybe it's just as difficult as it has always been. The museum offers an interactive poverty simulation where you step into someone's life and make the hard choices people living on the margins make each day.

Ben Broussard told us about the museum experience,

It leaves an impact on you, one that forces you to see the world through eyes of compassion and understanding. I left with a feeling of hope and challenged to offer mercy in ordinary ways.
