Drew Hanson's Colleagues Walk His Daughter Back To School

(KTDY) - School is back in session for some students in Louisiana, and one young lady who recently lost her father was escorted back to school by his colleagues.

WAFB shared a video on social media that shows the daughter of fallen Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson arriving at school with several of her dad's friends and colleagues.

As you may recall, Deputy Hanson was shot and killed in July while executing a warrant in Rapides Parish. The man they were looking for was wanted on sexual battery, and when authorities arrived at his address, a shootout ensued.

Fast forward a few weeks, and iit was time for Hanson's daughter to return to school, and she did so with a full police escort.

As you will see in the video below, the young lady arrived in an armored police unit, while many of her dad's colleagues stood by, in uniform, to welcome her back to school.

The message was quite clear here: while her dad may no longer physically be here, his friends and colleagues are, and they made sure to be there for the fallen deputy's daughter.

Yes, I would grab some tissues, as you will see how appreciative she was to return to school with those her dad likely called family.

I applaud all of the officers who took part in this and made this return the best it could be. You know that this young lady's father would have wanted to be here on her first day, and while he may have been spiritually, his brothers were there for her physically.

What a way to honor the sacrifice Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson made for his community and family.
