New Iberia Police Use Hilarious Photo of Dog in Winter PSA

(New Iberia, Louisiana) - A hard freeze has made its way into South Louisiana, and many are reminding others to take care of their pipes, plants, and pets.

Sure, most people do take care of their pets when temperatures plummet in Acadiana, but at times, we do need to be reminded to slow down and to bring our pets in, and often, you'll see members of the media or even police remind citizens to take care of their pets in the winter.

Well, recently, the New Iberia Police Department took to social media to remind folks to bring their dogs in during this hard freeze, and with some quick Photoshop work, NIPD added some local flavor to the photo of the dog.

For years, the running joke around New Iberia and Acadiana has been the "New Iberia Haircut," and if you aren't familiar with that style, it's basically a bowl cut with bands. The hairstyle is often reserved for men, and apparently, at one time, many guys from New Iberia sported it.

Knowing that joke, the NIPD added hair onto the dog in their PSA, and of course, it was a depiction of the "New Iberia Haircut." Since posting the photo of the dog with bangs, it has been shared hundreds of times, which is great because the message to care for your pets is out there.

How to Prepare For Hard Freeze

We remind you that temperatures will be at or below freezing for most nights this week, so please bring your pets indoors. In the event that you see an animal left out in the elements, you should contact your local authorities to notify them of the animal left out.

Another reminder: if you've wrapped your pipes for this latest freeze, leave them wrapped, as more Arctic Air is expected to move into South Louisiana as we end January.
