Major Candy Recall Affects 2.3 Million Units Sold Across Nation
(KMDL-FM) An urgent candy recall has been added to a long list of recent recalls enacted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. This time, the recall is extremely large in scope; it involves over 2.3 million candy products that have been sold nationwide.
What Is the Reason 2.3 Million Sour Candies Have Been Recalled?
The products were sold at Walmart and several other major retail outlets. The CPSC says the urgent concern is a choking hazard.
The product subject to the recall is the Ricky Joy Sour Crush Rolling Liquid Candy Bottles. The candies were sold nationwide between January 2023 and May 2026. The CPSC describes the choking concern as follows. “The rolling ball on the recalled candy bottles can detach, posing a risk of serious injury or death from choking.”

In addition to being sold at Walmart stores nationwide, the candies were also available at the popular Texas grocery chain H-E-B. The candies were also sold at Forman Mill, Walmart.com, CandyFunHouse.com, and RickyJoy.com.
The good news, at least so far in this recall, is that no incidents or injuries have been reported. However, the CPSC is still urging parents to act quickly before an injury can occur. It is suggested that if you have the product in your home, you keep it out of reach of children until it can be properly disposed of and a refund obtained.

We should note that the recalled items feature the words "extreme sour" and "sour crush". As you can see in the submitted photo from the CPSC, there is also a monster-like character on the label as well. The product was available in blue raspberry, strawberry, green apple, and watermelon flavors.
How To Obtain a Full Refund For Recalled Sour Candies
Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to stop using the product immediately and contact The Ricky Joy Company. The consumer hotline for this recall is (404) 975-0352. Once you've reached out, the company will send a prepaid shipping label to you so that you may return the recalled product at no cost to you.

The 1.85-fluid-ounce bottles were sold individually and in multi-packs. The individual products cost about $3. The multi-packs were sold in units priced from $13 to $32. Once you've returned the product to The Ricky Joy Company, you should be issued a full refund.
