Carlee Russell, who went missing for 48 hours, has been safely reunited with her family, bringing immense relief to her loved ones and the community. The Hoover Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

According to a statement released by the Hoover Police Department, Carlee was last seen leaving her workplace at The Summit in Birmingham around 8:20 PM on Thursday night (Jul. 13). She then proceeded to order food from a nearby business at The Colonnade before embarking on her journey. Investigations reveal that there was no known contact or companionship with anyone during the timeframe from when she left The Colonnade until her 911 call was made.

The police statement further explained that Carlee made a distress call to 911 at approximately 9:34 PM, stating that she had spotted a male toddler in a diaper on the side of I-459 and intended to check on the child's well-being. Traffic camera footage capturing this incident is currently being analyzed alongside the 911 call to establish a more precise timeline.

Upon receiving the 911 call, Hoover Police officers swiftly responded to the scene, discovering Carlee's belongings, including her wig, cell phone, and purse, near her abandoned vehicle. Following an extensive search effort and collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, Carlee's family reported her safe return on foot from her residence at 10:44 PM on July 15th.

Hoover Police and Fire immediately responded to the residence, where Carlee was assessed and subsequently transported to UAB Hospital for evaluation. After receiving the necessary medical treatment, detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit took an initial statement from Carlee, the details of which are an integral part of the ongoing investigation. The Hoover Police Department expresses gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community and the assistance provided by numerous law enforcement agencies.

In a Facebook post, Carlee's mother, on behalf of the family, expressed immense gratitude for the kindness, generosity, and compassion shown by the community during this challenging time. She also requested privacy for their family to focus on supporting Carlee's recovery, as they have endured mental and physical exhaustion after three sleepless nights.

Carlee's boyfriend also took to social media to express his gratitude for the prayers, support, and efforts of those involved in the search parties and for raising awareness about Carlee's disappearance. He shared his unwavering faith in God and thanked his family, friends, former teammates, and church members for their unwavering support. He addressed false allegations and assumptions, emphasizing that he remained committed to finding Carlee and bringing her home safely.

While Carlee's boyfriend revealed that she had been fighting for her life during the 48 hours she was missing, he requested understanding and respect for her current situation. Due to her physical and mental recovery, Carlee is not able to provide immediate updates or information about her abductor.

The investigation into Carlee Russell's disappearance remains ongoing, with the Hoover Police Department diligently gathering and evaluating evidence. Further updates regarding the case will be released as deemed factual and relevant to the public.
