North Carolina Man Arrested In Florida After Alleged Louisiana Festival Threat
A North Carolina man is in custody after authorities say he was allegedly traveling to Louisiana with plans to carry out a mass shooting at a large festival.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, federal authorities alerted deputies about the suspect, who was believed to be in their jurisdiction in Florida.
Bravo East deputies located the man at a hotel in Destin, where he was taken into custody without incident Wednesday night.

Officials confirmed the suspect was arrested as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Louisiana, where charges are pending through Louisiana State Police.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s name or specific details about the charges he will face.
Reports indicate that deputies recovered a handgun and multiple boxes of ammunition at the time of the arrest.
Festival Target Remains Unclear
At this time, officials have not confirmed which Louisiana festival may have been the intended target.
The arrest comes as Louisiana prepares for one of the busiest festival weekends of the year, including Festival International de Louisiane in Lafayette and the opening weekend of Jazz Fest in New Orleans.
With large crowds expected across the state, the timing will naturally raise concerns among residents, though officials note the suspect was apprehended before reaching Louisiana.

Investigation Ongoing
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional details are expected to be released as more information becomes available.
Residents are encouraged to stay aware but reassured that law enforcement acted quickly to address the threat.
