Unfortunately, this isn't the first time a woman has had a scary encounter with a stranger in Lafayette, and it won't be the last—however, videos like the one Bailey shared on TikTok act as a reminder for women and should be taken seriously.

PSA for Lafayette Women Goes Viral After Alarming Incident at Local Park

Women have always been told to avoid going to gas stations and grocery stores late at night alone, but now people are even bolder and will approach women in broad daylight without hesitation.

TikTok user Bailey.B shared a video on February 26th about a man who approached her at Moore Park in Lafayette.

In the video she explains that she has never made a post like this before but she needs to after what just happened to her that afternoon, "Never go to Moore Park by yourself and always carry a gun, pepper spray or a knife."

While it is a sad reality that women have to arm themselves to go take a stroll in a park on a sunny afternoon, it is always better to be over prepared especially if you enjoy going alone.

When she arrived at Moore Park, no one was there. Typically the park is packed with families and soccer teams.

However, she did notice a man park near her shortly after she pulled in and says she kept her eye on him. Bailey walks into the bathroom and when she walked out the man was standing in the entrance of the women's restroom waiting for her.

He immediately starts trying to talk to her, complimenting her by saying she has 'beautiful legs', but she ignores him and keeps walking. Then he tries to coax her into his vehicle by saying he has 'toys in his truck' if she's interested. Shocked at what she hears, she turns around and says, 'What?' and he repeats himself a second time.

Bailey says she kept walking, and the man circled the area in his truck 4 times before she decided to leave and go to Brown Park instead.

Thankfully, this particular incident never got physical, and she walked away unharmed. As we know, not every incident like this one has a happy ending, which is why being aware of your surroundings is crucial, especially if you go out alone.

Bailey reported the situation to local police and provided them with a photo of his vehicle, a white Ford with a tan/brown bottom half.

Commenters thanked her for sharing the warning on social media, even if it could have been so much worse.

Users mentioned Moncus Park and the Youngsville Sports Complex, saying they feel safest at these parks because they have security and are well-managed.
