La. Alcohol Commissioner Disagrees, But Will Abide By Order
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A spokesman for Louisiana's alcohol commissioner says she'll comply with a federal court order forbidding enforcement of a state law that seeks to establish a minimum age of 21 for exotic dancers.
Friday's statement from the chief of staff for Juana Lombard says she does not believe the law is unconstitutionally overbroad or vague — as lawyers for three exotic dancers claim in their lawsuit.
But, the emailed statement says she will comply with the order by U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier. And she will work with those affected by the law until a final court resolution is reached.
Barbier's 41-page ruling says the women who filed suit have made a strong case that the law is unconstitutionally vague and overly broad.
