(KPEL) -- The John Paul the Great Academy will have a new permanent home now that officials have come to an agreement in which the school purchase the De La Salle Christian Brothers' property on Carmel Drive.

"We did it!" exclaimed Dr. Kevin Roberts, headmaster of the academy. "This school has been the cause célèbre for Roman Catholics around the country, and they all proved their support with very generous gifts and prayers during the last several weeks."

John Paul the Great offers classes for Pre-K to twelfth grades. Roberts says they expect 200 students this coming school year, a record-high enrollment.

The purchase will also provide a home for a small group of consecrated religious sisters as well as 200 committed adorers in the school's perpetual adoration chapel.

The academy was founded in 2007 and "focuses on the Catholic Church’s view that the education of children should be an extension of the family’s personal commitment to formation of their children in the faith," Roberts says.
