The Lafayette Little League All-Star team (11-12 year old) kicked off their first game in the State Tournament at Chappapeela Sports Park in Hammond by defeating the All-Star team from Marksville 10-0 in 4 innings.

The team from the Hub City kicked it off by scoring one run in the bottom of the 1st inning, then plated two more runs in the 2nd inning, one more run in the 3rd inning and exploded for five runs in the 4th inning to finish off the game with a mercy-rule victory.

The pitching for Lafayette Little League was "tremendous," says James P. Bitterman, who called the game on Sportsradio ESPN 1420. "I thought the two young men that pitched really pitched very, very well." At one point, Carter Dooley and Henry Schuffler combined to strike out eight batters in a row. Of the pitches Dooley threw, 80% of them were strikes. Of the pitches Schuffler threw, 75% of them were strikes.

Next, LLL will take on the All-Star team from Bossier at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday on Sportsradio ESPN 1420.

Another Lafayette Little League All-Star team (13-14 year old) will play Friday night at 8:00 p.m. against Alexandria on Sportsradio ESPN 1420.
