Lafayette Man Arrested For Felony Theft
Alan Jude Bernard was arrested by Louisiana State Police today and charged with felony theft, filing false public records and first degree injuring public records. State Police got information Bernard was receiving Social Security disability benefits while operating a siding business and an auto sales business from his home. The investigation revealed Bernard made false statements when he applied for benefits. Bernard started getting disability benefits since February of 2011.
State Police concluded Bernard received over $83,000 in disability benefits and filed numerous false purchase agreements with the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles to lower tax costs.
