LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A pedestrian is in stable condition after he was hit by a train early Sunday morning.

Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said the 38-year-old victim was sitting near the tracks near the railroad crossing at West Third Street.

"The victim received injuries to his right knee, right arm, and head area," Mouton said.

The crash remains under investigation.
