Lafayette Utilities System Issues Boil Water Advisory for Several Local Areas
The Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has issued an important Boil Water Advisory affecting several neighborhoods across Lafayette. The advisory is in effect for residents and businesses located within the area bordered by Dicarlo Drive to the north, Johnston Street to the south, Doucet Road to the west, and Camellia Boulevard to the east.
This precautionary measure has been taken to ensure the safety of the public following a drop in water pressure, which could potentially lead to contamination. LUS has advised that all water intended for consumption or use in food preparation should be boiled for at least one full minute. This includes water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and rinsing food. The minute-long boiling time should be counted once the water reaches a rolling boil.
LUS is actively working to restore normal water pressure and is conducting thorough testing to ensure the water is safe for use. The advisory will remain in place until the Louisiana Department of Health-Office of Public Health confirms that the water is free from contaminants and safe for consumption.
LUS personnel will distribute door tags in the impacted areas to keep affected customers informed. Residents are urged to follow the advisory strictly until they receive official notice that it has been lifted.
