Served as Assistant Secretary and Chief of Staff for Interior Department

WASHINGTON—United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., issued the following statement today on the resignation of Tom Strickland from the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he has served as Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, and Chief of Staff, for the last two years.

Landrieu said:

“The departure of Tom Strickland means Louisiana will lose a good friend in the Interior Department. The entire Gulf Coast will lose an advocate who has been at the forefront of our response to the [BP Deepwater Horizon] oil spill. Tom Strickland has been a tireless champion of Gulf Coastal restoration. He has also been a reliable point person in the development of energy policy, forging a new path forward that strikes a balance between stimulating essential domestic oil and gas production and protecting the environment. I look forward to a continued constructive working relationship with the Interior Department as Secretary Salazar seeks a replacement for Tom Strickland, who leaves big shoes to fill.”
