A dispute over an oil well in the Gulf of Mexico busted by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 has an environmental group threatening to sue.

At issue is seepage at the lease site about 11 miles off the Louisiana coast.

No one is claiming a massive leak such as the BP well that busted in April 2010 about 70 miles to the northeast. But the group claims there is something leaking from the site and it should be fixed.

First, a determination will have to be made about who owns the well and might be responsible for plugging any leak and any pollution.

Waterkeeper Alliance, a watchdog group, filed notice last week that it intends to sue under the federal Clean Water Act and Resource Conservation Recovery Act.
