A Louisiana bus driver is out of a job after making a racist comment to a student.

“Since George Floyd, that's what you all say, but I don't see a knee on your neck.” - Former St. Bernard Parish bus driver

According to WWL-TV, student Rashad Gabriel, a 6th-grader in St. Bernard Parish, had to run to catch the bus to school. When he got on the bus, his mask had slipped below his nose.

When Rashad explained to the bus driver that he was out of breath because he ran to catch the bus on time, the bus driver responded with a reference to George Floyd's murder.

“Since George Floyd, that's what you all say, but I don't see a knee on your neck.” was the bus driver's response.

The comment was not only heard by Rashad and other students on the bus, but the recorder on the bus captured the audio.

If you recall, some of George Floyd's last words were "I can't breathe" before he died due to pressure on his neck from former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin's knee. Derek Chauvin has been found guilty of Floyd's murder.

WWL-TV reports that the superintendent of schools for that district could not say whether the bus driver was fired or tendered a resignation, but she did condemn the comments and said the district took "appropriate action".
