'Taunt Sue' From Fred's Lounge in Mamou Has Passed Away

(Mamou, Louisiana) - Some sad news out of Mamou, Louisiana, as it has been announced by Ardoin's Funeral Home that Carina "Taunt Sue" Alice Vasseur has passed away.

If you ever visited the historic Fred's Lounge in Mamou, chances are you were greeted and partied with "Taunt Sue." This Evangeline Parish icon never met a stranger, and she was always the life of any party she attended.

Even into her later years, Taunt Sue greeted guests from all over the world and after the initial greeting she often followed it up with a complimentary shot of "Hot Damn."

This proud Cajun woman never met a stranger, and her strong personality was contagious. Many of her family members expressed their sorrow on social media once her passing was announced, and many say that they will carry on her legacy.

Coming from someone who grew up in Mamou, I'll say it now, "Taunt Sue" deserves to have a street named after her in Mamou.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to the family of "Taunt Sue" in Mamou. Sixth Street will never be the same without this icon.

"Taunt Sue" was 93 years old.
