As we all get ready to get beck to school after what I hope was a great Summer, we get some unfortunate news. Wallethub.com has released their study ranking the nation's public school systems, and Louisiana has come in second. That's second from the bottom of the list. Here's why...

Wallethub.com says they used 25 key metrics to compile their rankings, including things like performance, funding, safety, class size and instructor credentials.

After the dust settled with their investigation, Louisiana ranked 50 out of 51 ahead of only New Mexico over all. Louisiana received a "Quality Rank" of 46 and a "Safety Rank" of dead last at 51.

Here's how we landed in a few specific areas according to wallethub.com -

Lowest Math Test Scores - 51 out of 51
Lowest reading Test Scores - 48 out of 51
Highest % Of Threatened/Injured High School Students - 45 out of 51
Highest Bullying Incidence Rate - 46 out of 51

The study also found that when it comes to the amount of money we spend on our public school system, we rank fairly well. Louisiana lands 23 out 51.

So, we apparently put a decent amount of money into our schools but still somehow land second to last overall.

Below are a few charts from the study, and you can get a lot more information on all of this over at wallethub.com.
