Should Kindergarten in Louisiana be mandatory? The Louisiana Senate is about to have a serious discussion to decide...

Earlier today, Senate Education Chairman Cleo Fields' proposal to mandate Kindergarten in Louisiana was advanced by the Senate Finance Committee according to myarklamiss.com.

Current Louisiana law requires children 7 to 18 years old to attend school. The new proposal, if it becomes law, would drop the minimum age of attending school to 5 years old.

From myarklamiss.com -

"Fields’ proposal would mandate that children who turn 5 years old by Sept. 30 of each year to attend kindergarten, starting with the 2022-23 school year.

People who home-school their children would be required to start with kindergarten."

The new Kindergarten mandate is, as of now, just a debate amongst the Senate and would need the Senate to pass it in full before it could come to fruition.

What do you think? Should kindergarten be mandated in Louisiana?
