Louisiana Unveils New ‘I Voted Sticker’ Ahead of Fall Election
Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin's Office has officially unveiled Louisiana's new "I Voted Sticker" ahead of the upcoming fall elections. You might not think a sticker is that big of a deal but just ask anyone who didn't get an "I Voted Sticker" in the 2016 election and you'll get an earful.
While the stickers are, well, just stickers, what they represent is obviously very near and dear to the hearts of Louisiana residents. Voting is an honor and a privilege and with important races to be decided, like a US Senate seat and all of our state's Representatives in the U.S. House it's very likely the stickers will once again be in high demand this fall.
The sticker was designed by New Orleans Artist Beck Fos. Fos suggests that the theme of her artwork is "Happy Artist" and her hope is that Louisiana voters will be happy with the artwork she designed for the sticker.
The emblem features a likeness of the Louisiana State Capitol Building displayed on a palate of vibrant colors in the background. It also contains the very important words "I Voted".
According to Ardoin's office, the state spent about 15 thousand dollars to cover printing costs for the 2.2 million stickers that will be given out to voters this fall. Ardoin mused that no one has ever complained about the cost of the stickers but they do complain loudly when polling places run out of them.
Perhaps Louisiana's most popular "I Voted" sticker was from that 2016 election that featured the famous George Rodrigue Blue Dog. Sets of those stickers can be purchased online for as much as 16 dollars.
But you will get your "I Voted" sticker free when you vote this fall. Now, we have to make sure you're registered, you are registered to vote right? Well, you need to do that. Here's how.
