An incredible story unfolded this week in Baton Rouge. According to WBRZ, a woman who spotted two people attempting to steal her Jeep confronted them, chased them, and said she was in the vehicle trying to prevent the theft.

Bullets flew during this incident!

What Would You Do If Your Car Was Being Stolen?

The answers to the question above are likely as diverse as our population in Louisiana. When encountering danger, some of us can run towards it, while others may freeze in place. It may all come down to being put in that position. That's what Ashley Mitchell learned recently.

Mitchell recounted the harrowing experience of seeing two people stealing her Jeep. She jumped into action, doing everything she could to stop the crime.

The whole incident can be seen playing out via a camera on the house.

How Did This All Start?

Imagine you are up in the middle of the night, getting a bottle ready for your baby. You are likely tired, and it might be your routine to glance out the window while feeding your child. That's how it all began for Mitchell.

She glanced out the window and saw two people stealing her Jeep. Ashley jumped into action by chasing the thieves. She was desperately hoping to prevent this crime from happening to her. She says this type of crime activity seems to be on the uptick in the neighborhood lately.

Mitchell says another person had their car stolen, and if that isn't bad enough, just a few days later, somebody came back and stole the man's wife's car!

The Bullets Flew

Mitchell says she did what she could to save her car from being stolen, but the thieves drove off in the vehicle, but not before they decided to take things up a notch higher.  Mitchell says she heard shots.

Thankfully, Mitchell was not shot. Three days after the wild incident, police were able to return her Jeep, but she didn't feel comfortable getting into it. And she is afraid for her safety. She says,

I don’t feel safe at all. I’m constantly waking up every hour because of what happened. Who knows if these guys are still out there!

And no one can blame her. It was a harrowing incident. Baton Rouge Police Department officials say the search continues for her Jeep. Anyone with information is asked to call the department.
