Tonight's NCAA Super Regional baseball game at Alex Box Stadium with find the LSU Tigers baseball team in a very unfamiliar position. The Tigers are in a must win game at home. Usually opponents find it very difficult to get up on LSU when they play in Baton Rouge.

Last night in the first game of the Baton Rouge Super Regional the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers had no fear of the Tiger mystique at Alex Box. They came in with their bats a blazing and handed the Tigers an 11-8 loss.

LSU got off to a great start taking a 3-1 lead on the strength of Greg Deichmann's three run homer in the 4th inning. Then the wheels slowly started to fall off the Tiger bandwagon.

LSU started Alex Lange had major issues in the bottom of the 5th inning when the Coastal Carolina bats started to wake up. The Chanticleers added four runs in the bottom of that inning. From then on it was downhill for the Tigers.

The losing pitcher for LSU was Lange who gave up 6 runs in 5 innings of work. The middle of the LSU order, the 5-6-7 and seven hitters struggled mightily at the plate. Those hitters were 0-10 for the night.

Tonight LSU will be in a must win situation in game two. Game time is set for 8 PM. Should LSU win that will set up a third and deciding game for Monday. A win by Coastal Carolina will send that team to Omaha for the College World Series.
