LSU classes may return to "normal" this coming fall.

According to an email sent this morning to LSU students' parents, LSU administrators expect the vast majority of classes to be held in-person during the Fall 2021 semester if vaccinations proceed as expected.

"We expect that overall, fall 2021 will operate similarly to fall 2019," said the email, signed by interim LSU president Thomas Galligan and executive vice president Stacia Haynie.

"We will closely monitor the distribution of the vaccine and will make any adjustments to our plans that are necessary," the email continued. "Of course, we will follow all state and CDC guidelines, with the safety of our campus community as our guidepost. We intend to do all we can to return our campus safely to pre-COVID-19 operations."

According to the email, the university has no updates about summer session and intersession. Officials say they will give students updates for those sessions as soon as they have the information to do so.

The email also says university leaders are working on plans for this spring's graduation ceremony. A commencement update will come as soon as plans for that event are confirmed.
