Roadwork to Create Delays on Johnston Street in Lafayette, Louisiana
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced there will be some intermittent road closures for road repairs. This work is likely to cause traffic disruptions and traffic delays so we wanted you to know about what will happen this week.
The roadwork starts today, and it will continue through Thursday, October 31, 2024. Roadwork is something we all complain about if it is not being done to fix road issues, and then we complain if it delays us while we are driving. It's just what we have to deal with.
Where Is The Work Being Done?
DOTD says the roadway will happen on Johnston Street between Ambassador Caffery and Bertrand. Drivers will see intermittent lane closures as repairs are being made. Officials say the work happens on the outside lanes on both sides of Johnston Street, northbound and southbound.
When Is This Work Being Done?
The roadwork will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Crews will be working on repairs at various locations up and down Johnston Street between Ambassador and Bertrand Drive.
What Does This Mean For Travellers?
If you use Johnston Street between Ambassador and Bertrand for travel just keep in mind that you could have some delays if are on the stretch of roadway with repairs. Again, the work will happen intermittently along that stretch of Johnston and likely will vary each day.
As always DOTD officials are asking drivers to be careful while driving in this area. Patience will be needed also if you are travelling in the zones where work is being done as it might take longer to get where you are going.
