Major Shake-Up For Lafayette Television Market with Layoffs and Cancellations
Another major change has been made in the lineup of a television station that broadcasts news in Lafayette and Acadiana according to sources.
KADN-TV will no longer be carrying the Morning Show that has been in place. They will still have a morning news show, but it will be a bit different. They have canceled the noon show, which focused on news and events in the Lafayette and Acadiana markets.
Tuesday's decision means that several people are no longer employed by the station. Our sources say that close to twenty people have been let go.
We are working to get confirmation on which people have been let go from the station, and as soon as we can give more details we will. Another source shared with us that some sales and production crew members were let go as well.
Executive Director of News and Public Affairs Jim Parker gave us the following statement
“We are restructuring to better position ourselves as a result of economic challenges faced by the entire media industry. As a result, we unfortunately lost some friends and colleagues.” -
This is a developing story, and the KPEL News Team is working to provide additional coverage for Acadiana.
