The Louisiana Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire that claimed the life of a man in Opelousas.

According to Marshal Spokeswoman Ashely Rodriquez, via press release, there were no working smoke alarms in the mobile home on Elementary Lane.

Fire fighters were called out to the house just before one o'clock on Wednesday morning.

Officials say the victim was a forty-two year old man, and they are still working to notify this man's next of kin. Also lost in the fire was a dog.

At this point in time investigators believe the fire started in the living room, but they are still looking into several different things from the scene.
