A man lost control of his motorcycle on Interstate 10 west of Louisiana Highway 165 in Jefferson Davis Parish last night, and he died at the scene.

State Police say 62-year-old Donald Stanfield of Alexandria was eastbound on I-10 in the exit lane for the Highway 65 in the Iowa area when he failed to negotiate a right turn, and he crashed into a sing.

Stanfiled was thrown off of his motorcycle, and the coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

A routine toxicology sample was taken, and it was sent to the State Police crime lab for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
