Karen Duhon of Morgan City was booked into the St. Mary Jail facing additional chargesof theft of over $25,000. According to our news partners at KATC, Donna Sue Pevato was also arrested and charged with theft of over $600,000. The company for whom they worked, Capital Management Consultants, filed a lawsut that alleges the two women and a former account, Scott Tucker stole several million dollars from the company over the course of approximately 30 years. Tucker died in January of 2014 and his estate, two daughters, Pevato, Duhon, her husband and their company were named as co-conspirators and defendants.
Marwan Mohey-el Dien, a company spokesman says forensic accounting uncovered the trio stole between $7 million and $12 million but the number could be up to $30 million.
Tucker's death in 2014 started the investigation when a new account was hired and began replacing an outdated manual accounting system that helped cover the thefts.
Late in 2014 Duhon was arrested for theft of $1.2 Million and Pevato were arrested and charged with theft of over $600,000.
The investigation continues and Capt. James Blair of the Morgan City Police Department says more arrests are possible.
