Mother Of Alexandria Girls Who Died In Fire Pleads Guilty

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — The mother of 2-year-old twin sisters who died in a December 2014 house fire in Rapides Parish has pleaded guilty to two counts of negligent homicide.

The Town Talk reports court records show that Andrea Aaron pleaded to the lesser charges on Sept. 24. She had been indicted on two counts of second-degree murder for leaving Annaya Faith Williams and MaKaya Hope Williams alone in their home on Dec. 17.

The girls' father, who escaped the fire, also was charged in connection to the fatal fire. Michael Williams was charged with two counts of being an accessory after the fact. A pretrial conference in Williams' case is set for Oct. 27.

After pleading guilty, Aaron was sentenced to five years in prison at hard labor. Three years were suspended.
