Lafayette Parish Deputy Sheriff William Lavergne joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' to invite listeners to participate in the National Night Out Against Crime tomorrow.

Deputy Lavergne said,

The event will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 tomorrow night.  This year we're lucky enough to have four locations in Lafayette Parish.  The city of Duson, the city of Broussard and the city of Lafayette will have two locations...Girard Park and the Martin Luther King Center.

When asked if any special guests would be appearing Lavergne replied,

McGruff the Crime Dog will be appearing and it's great for the kids to interact with McGruff and us, the officers.  You never know when our youth will have to be the ones to contact law enforcement or look for help and you want them to be comfortable enough to do that.

According to Deputy Lavergne,

We'll have displays including police cars, a tactical bus, a drunk driving simulator, horses, police dogs, free food and free ice cream from Blue Bell.
