The Lafayette Police Department along with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department will be holding Lafayette's annual "National Night Out" against crime.

The free event will be held between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30  p.m. tomorrow at the Martin Luther King Center.

The event will offer a variety of activities and things to see including:

  • Music
  • Entertainment
  • Food
  • Games
  • Lafayette Fire Department display
  • Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office display
  • Swat Team display
  • Motorcycle Unit
  • Horse Patrol

The crime prevention event is aimed at strengthening the relations ship between the public and officers and organizing neighborhoods to fight back against crime.

Similar events will also be held in Broussard, Youngsville and Duson.

Lafayette Police Officer Karl Ratcliffe joined "Acadiana's Morning News" to discuss the event.
