New Details Released in Bossier Toddlers’ Deaths
Bossier City police have released more information in the deaths of 3-year-old twins found inside a hot pick-up truck Saturday afternoon.
Department spokesman Mark Natale said Oliver and Aria Orr are the children of Bossier Parish Sheriff's Deputy Travis Orr. He wasn't home at the time of the incident. His wife had apparently laid down for a nap, and awoke to find the toddlers missing.
She and her neighbors found the children inside the family's pick-up truck that was parked in the driveway. Oliver and Aria were rushed to Willis Knighton-Bossier, where they were pronounced deceased.
Natale said autopsies were done on the children, and it was confirmed that their deaths were heat-related. He said a stool was located next to the pickup truck, indicating the twins climbed into the vehicle, and were not left in there accidentally. There's no indication yet how long the toddlers were inside the truck.
"It's certainly a tragic situation," Natale said. "You can only imagine what the family's going through, and the extended family, the first responders having to deal with a situation like this, it's tough."
Natale said as with any case of any magnitude involving juveniles, Child Protective Services has been notified. He also said any charges that may be filed will depend on the outcome of the investigation. There's no evidence that the children had been mistreated in any way.
Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington has released the following statement:
"We are saddened by the tragic loss suffered by the Orr family, and our hearts are heavy. This is a very difficult time, but it's even more so, as they are a part of our Bossier Sheriff's Office family. Please keep Deputy Travis Orr and his family in your thoughts and prayers."
