New Freddie Mercury Track Released

Music fans got an unexpected treat earlier this morning. Building on the heels of the success of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, Queen and Universal Music dropped a previously unreleased version of Freddie Mercury's solo track "Time."

If you're a casual Queen fan, this song won't be familiar. It was recorded around 1986 for the Dave Clark musical of the same name. Although Mercury was not part of the stage production, he contributed lead vocals for two tracks on the concept album version of the musical (the other song is "In My Defence.")

This remixed version of "Time" strips the track of its backing vocals, guitars, and drums, leaving only Mercury's lead vocal and Mike Moran's piano accompaniment.

In addition to the new remix of "Time," Universal Music Group also released a brief clip of an interview featuring Clark and Mercury discussing how their working relationship came to be and how the song came to be.

If Dave Clark's name sounds familiar, it's because you may recognize his name from the British Invasion. As the leader and drummer of the Dave Clark Five, Clark reached the Billboard Top 10 eight times between 1964 and 1967, including their debut smash "Glad All Over" and their only #1, 1965's "Over and Over."

The newly-released mix of "Time" is also available as a downloadable single through the major online music outlets.
