Jordan Kellman is now the new dean of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's College of Liberal Arts. He starts on July 1st and will be replacing David Barry, who retired earlier this year.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors approved the appointment at its meeting Tuesday.

His focus as the new dean is to broaden the college's international focus through study abroad opportunities and the coordination of international components within it's curriculum.

He has been the interim director of Academic Planning and Faculty Development since 2010.

His new position calls for a different set of priorities and he says they involve, "developing a broader culture of sharing best practices in teaching and student retention and encouraging and promoting the college's faculty research."
