New Orleans Coffee Shop Opens Food Truck During Renovations
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A famous New Orleans coffee shop is using a food truck to bring its beignets to City Park while its recently acquired cafe in Casino Building is under renovation.
The Advocate of New Orleans reports Cafe du Monde will start parking the food truck outside the Casino Building on Tuesday. The shop won the space last month in a lengthy bidding war against Morning Call, which had operated there since 2012.
The loss of the space left Morning Call homeless, as rising rents had forced the business to close its original Metairie shop in April. Co-owner Bob Hennessey says possible business spots are being scouted.
Cafe du Monde owner Jay Roman says the truck will let the cafe establish a presence in the area before the new shop opens.
