NEW ROADS, La. (AP) — The Latest on a grand jury's indictment of a Louisiana mayor on charges of malfeasance in office and abuse of power (all times local):

5 p.m.

A Louisiana grand jury has indicted New Roads Mayor Robert Mayer on charges of malfeasance in office and abuse of power.

Multiple media outlets report that a warrant for Mayer's arrest was issued following his indictment Wednesday.

His indictment follows a 2015 state Inspector General's report that found Myer had used a city-issued credit card for personal purchases.

Mayer says he has repaid the city any charges that went to personal use.

The Inspector General's office handed over its findings to 18th Judicial District Attorney Richard Ward. Before Mayer's indictment, Ward wouldn't confirm if the report was the basis of the grand jury's investigation.
