NOLA Hard Rock Hotel Not Coming Down Until December [VIDEO]

As we are rolling into the new year, it's almost impossible to believe that the Hard Rock Hotel, which collapsed on October 12th, 2019, is still standing at the corner of Rampart and Canal streets in New Orleans. Three people died and dozens more were injured in the collapse. The bodies of two construction workers, 63-year-old Jose Ponce Arreola and 36-year-old Quinnyon Wimberly, are still inside and have not be recovered because the building remains too unstable to retrieve them safely.

According to NOLA.com 'The new plan laid out by firms working for 1031 Canal Development, the consortium behind the Hard Rock project, says it will take workers until May to stabilize the building enough to begin picking it apart.' It will then take at least until December to dismantle the structure. City officials had previously said that they had expected the entire process to be completed by summer of 2020. The site has basically remained the same as it was the day it collapsed last year, and several Mardi Gras Krewes are now scrambling to change their parade routes due to the situation.
